3 Hummers On GRID Off-Road Wheels

The Hummer is an epic vehicle with a storied past. The off-road beast first got their start in the military before bing sold to civilians in 1992 with the M999 Humvee. The brand lived on for a quite a while, undergoing a few different remodels through the years before the band hit some trouble in 2008 when their viability during the economic downturn affected the then popular rigs. In 2010, Hummer dealerships started to shut down and a few years later, production stopped.

That was until 2020, when it was announced that the nameplate would return as two models – an electric truck and SUV – sold under the GMC name as the GMC Hummer EV. Now, the EV is scheduled to launch in fall 2021 and there’s tons of excitement surrounding the new model. The GMC Hummer EV will rival other electric car titans in the game like the Tesla CyberTruck that’s supposed to drop soon. So after the pickup truck comes out later this year, the electric SUV will follow suit in 2022.

The upcoming pickup Hummer EV will have 1,000 ponies from its top powertrain option, using three electric motors to have an estimated range of 350 miles per charge. The new EV will also have removable roof panels, optional adjustable air suspension and 4-wheel steering to allow it to drive diagonally.

At GRID Off-Road, we love Hummers and have had them featured on a few of our wheel styles. While we can’t wait to get our hands on a new GMC Hummer EV, here’s some Hummer eye-candy with past builds flossing our favorite GRID Off-Road wheels! Let us know which is your favorite one!
